Born and raised in London, England, Jimo Salako started working in the fashion industry at the age of 16. By the age of 22 he was already a top stylist at the legendary Vidal Sassoon salon. It was at this point Jimo then left to become a freelance session hairstylist.

Jimo sees the medium of hair as a material to create simple, thought- provoking styles. In much of his work Jimo fuses the sharp and bold with the soft and beautiful. Jimo is passionately inspired by films, photography, music and art.

Jimo has collaborated with several of the industry’s top photographers such as Nick Knight, Dan Jackson, Paul Wetherall, Katja Rawles, Ben Dunbar Brunton, Norbert Schoerner, Roger Deckker, Anuschka Blommers and Niels Schumm, Emma Hardy, Glen Luchford, Mondino, Mario Sorrenti, David Sims and Tom Hunter.

Video and commercial directors include Mark Romanek, Michel Gondry, Sean Ellis, Stephane Sednaoui, John Maybury, Nick Egan, Jamie Thraves, Matthew Rolston and Jake Scott.

Jimo’s editorial work has been seen across the globe in various magazines such as Vogue, (U.S, U.K, China), Self-Service, 10 Magazine, Another Magazine, Pop, Vanity Fair, Teen Vogue, Big, V Magazine, i-D, Dazed and Confused and The New York Times.

Jimo is a firm favorite with numerous celebrities and musicians.
