Tracy Murphy’s
versatile style, sharp sense of aesthetics and artist’s touch
make her one of the most sought after makeup artists in the industry.
Constantly inspired by the world around her, Tracy’s gift
to create and transform is unparalleled. From the most minimal look
to a complete theatrical transformation, it is clear that this is
an artist who understands the entire spectrum of beauty, art and
fashion.
Born and raised in Flint, Michigan, the title of makeup artist came
at an early age. With a painter for a mother and a surgeon for a
father, it is no wonder that she was blessed with the talent for
delivering precise, flawless and breathtaking work. Always transforming
friends and family, it was clear that she was gifted. At age 18,
she headed to NYC to attend university at the Fashion Institute
of Technology. After graduating and living in London for a year,
she returned to NYC to begin her makeup career. She started working
closely with world-renowned makeup artist Dick Page on his international
runway shows. Simultaneously, her career was taking off. Soon she
was juggling a fast paced work schedule that has not slowed down
since.
Her down to earth demeanor, astute level of aestheticism and understanding
of the creative process, make her a vital component to a successful
shoot. Tracy is constantly traveling the globe to contribute to
such magazines as Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, W, Sports Illustrated
Swimsuit, Marie Clare, Allure, Jane and D to name a few. She has
collaborated with photographers such as Diego Uchitel, Ben Watts,
Pamela Hanson, Patric Shaw, Tina Barney, Norman Jean Roy, Walter
Chin, Jeff Bark, Juergen Teller, Marilyn Minter, Richard Kern, Ralph
Gibson and Josh Jordan. Her celebrity clients include Jennifer Connelly,
Tatum O’Neal, Rashida Jones, Nicky Hilton, and Brooke Shields.
